Signals 101: Overview & Quick Links
New explorers, start here for [space] maps and orientation
New: We’ve opened a Signals Advisory for kidney care teams — say hello.
If you’re reading this, chances are you missed our latest [space] expedition. Don’t worry, this post will get you back up to speed and ready for the next one.
For starters, you can learn more about Signals, my story, and browse our most read signals here. If you’re already up to speed, then you might be interested in our first [space] expedition into kidney care.
Now, let’s dig in to why we’re all here: to make sense of the vast expanses of science, health, and technology. At least I hope that’s why you’re here, because I need your help. The truth is that as much as these fields fascinate me to no end, they’re too big to explore alone—strength in numbers, right?
This is a free newsletter that aims to make the frontiers of healthcare technology more accessible to those who need it most. One thing I’ve learned since co-founding IKONA nearly 7 years ago is that awareness and scientific literacy are widespread hurdles to innovation at every level. Before we could bring the latest learning technologies to our partners, we first had to educate clinicians and executives on 150 years of neurobiology and psychology research.
I write Signals to help address that knowledge gap and share what I learn along the way. My hope is these Signals give you something new to consider or explore further. Many of you reading this are actively shaping the future in one way or another, from kidney care and biotech to digital therapeutics and spatial computing. Thanks for joining me on this fun little adventure, and thanks for striving to make this world a better place.

Orientation
Let’s do a quick tour around the Signals site, shall we?
Signals go out weekly. Subscribe to get them straight in your inbox.
Spaces are the big picture themes and sectors that contain Signals. Our first “space exploration” is in kidney care. Every space has its own page that you’ll find linked at the top of this newsletter, which brings me to…
Kidneys is the first page dedicated to a specific [space]. Every time we launch into a new sector or theme, we’ll add a link to the top where you can find all the top Signals and materials on that topic.
Space Maps Coming Soon!
Like any great Intergalactic Visitor’s Center, we don’t want you getting lost. You know those startup ecosystem maps? And those drug candidate pipelines? *Imagine something like that below for each of the [spaces] we plan to cover.*
Oh, and if you have any top of mind spaces we should cover or people you think might want to explore with us, work your magic.✨
